Micro NLHE Cash Games
I’ve been playing a lot online during the week.. since my weekends are usually spent at Commerce in some 1-2 NLHE cash games, I decided I should take a break from the SnGs and practice cash games online. I buy-in for the max $10 in the mirco $.05-.10 NLHE games on Full Tilt. In my last 7 consecutive sessions I’ve left up 1-2x my buy-in. Am I running well or am I on to something?
Now, the players in these games are not anything special, by any means. They play very straight forward and are easy to read. Their betting patterns tell their story. I know when I can pick up a pot and I know when they have a hand.. or I know when they’re making a move and I just can’t call because I have absolutely nothing. There are some morons.. to avoid.. and there are some weak players to just flat out take advantage of. In the long run in these 3-5hr sessions I leave up and the really obviously bad players are down to the felt. I just try to play my main hands and only raise with great ones in any position or good ones when on or one off the button. Playing tight and only a few big pots in the whole session really help me not give away my chips.
I realize that 20-30hrs of play in these cash games isn’t a great way to judge the variance but right now it’s building my bankroll. Since my boyfriend and I were sharing account (for no real reason), we’ve finally split and he’s playing on a separate account. I wanted to really judge my play and really try to build the bankroll. I was tired of waking up and realizing he played a few hours the night before and now I’m down all my winnings from the day… so we split the bankroll and are playing under different names (finally). I’m thinking of playing for the next week, as I have been in these micro limits, and then moving up to the next level with a bigger buy-in. That’s to say all goes as it has been..
In real life, I’m looking to play in a tournament soon. It’s been about 2 1/2 months since I played in any. Right now, I’m considering a $200+25 buy-in on the 29th, where 1st place wins a Main Event package and/or a Ladies Tournament for $100+20 at the Bike the 1st Sunday in April. We’ll see… I probably can’t swing both and the 225 is a bit of a drive.. but then again I’m trying to avoid ladies tournaments.. I don’t want to blow most of my bankroll in 2 tournaments so we’ll see what happens in cash games in the next few weeks.
Oh! btw, I was called a “donk” in the chat box online for the 1st time (that i know of). We were down to 3 in a SnG (so we were in the payout) and I was in 1st. I decided to gamble a bit and call the short stacks all-in with a Ah4h. I rivered the flush and he was out. He couldn’t believe I’d call his all-in with an A4. I think he had 55s.
