Stars Payout Schedule

So finally able to blog about something that has intrigued and annoyed me since last Sunday. I finally redeposited after a few months layoff on Stars and decided to play the $10+1 15k guaranteed tournament. They ended up getting 3364 players for a prize pool over $33K. I ended up playing for over 4.5 hours and busted out 20th for a whopping $74.01 for a $63.01 profit. Now the issue I have is that first place was slightly over $4.6K. Now this seems awful small for a 33k prize pool…just over 14% was set aside for first. I thought my payout for 20th place was small also.

I decided to check a few other tourneys on stars and noticed the Sunday mill offered the same prize payouts for 1st but other tourney’s ranged between 19% to over 21% which seems much more normal to me. Do guaranteed tournaments have a different payout schedule than non-gtd tourneys? Do others think 14% is small…anyone know how others sites compare? I swear Party used to be much higher.

The payout schedule is based on how many people enter the tournament. The more people that enter the tournament the lower the percentage it pays out.

For example tournaments with less than 200 people pays out 30% for 1st place.
Under 400 pays 19% for first. A 1500 person tourney pays 17.5% for first. The other extreme would be the Sunday Hundred Grand on Stars that usually has over 20000 people entered and that pays 9.1% for 1st.

If party was higher, you were playing in smaller tournaments.
