The Hard-Boiled Poker Radio Show
I must have a secret, unconscious urge to seek out situations where I risk extreme embarrassment. Yesterday I posted a picture of my two-year-old self on the blog dressed as a cowboy (with tiny holster, toy gun, and unbelievable striped pants). Today I’ve launched a new poker podcast. When will it end?
This podcast thing has been in the works for awhile, actually. Thought I’d pass along the info here, in case anyone is interested. The main idea for the show is to present old time radio shows that feature poker and/or gambling as a primary concern. Will include other short subjects as well, which lead up to the feature presentation (the old radio show).
For the first episode, Tim Peters (book reviewer for CardPlayer) contributed one segment. Bob Woolley (a.k.a. Rakewell, the Poker Grump) contributed another. I also play an old 78 rpm called “The Darktown Poker Club” by Bert Williams (from 1914). The radio show is from an old series called Inner Sanctum Mysteries. The show is called “Dead Man’s Deal” and prominently features a fairly suspenseful hand of five-card draw.
Not too much like the other poker podcasts, I think. Also, I don’t plan to do a weekly show; more likely just once per month. The blog for the show is http://hardboiledpokerradioshow.blogspot.com. The RSS feed for the show is http://feeds.feedburner.com/hardboiledpokerradioshow. Episode 1 (posted today) lasts just under an hour, and can be found here.
Would love to hear any feedback, should you happen to check it out.
