Poker Update
It’s been a while since I posted last, been busy with work and the kids, and quite frankly at 9:00PM, I do not feel like writing a post. Here is an update for the past week or so.
I decided to try for the Iron Man again this month, in January I almost went broke playing cash games. I have since rebuilt the bankroll and I am trying again. I am only going to be able to play the bronze level this month, because I only try to get the 50 points a day, and I have to travel for work some this month, and to make silver I can only miss one day of points the rest of the month, this is going to be a challenge.
In order to get the Iron man level, I have been focusing on more and more cash games. I generally play 2 or 3 tables at a time. The results are not exactly what I have been hoping to achieve. I seem to be losing my money, a little slower then before, but losing it just the same. I do play SNG’s and win the money back.
I feel I am playing better then I was before, just not getting the best of it. The vast majority of the hands I lose a lot with are hands that I would play all day everyday. I lost with AA vs. QQ on a flop board of 2, 6, 8, he spiked a Q on the turn. I almost threw my laptop on that hand. I lost with KK vs. AQ hands like this are my down fall.
Played in the Poker Sluts tourney on Sunday Limit Omaha 8 or better. There were about 24 players and I went to the final table in 2nd place and later took a commanding chip lead, then the wheels fell off. I go involved with a hand I am not sure I should have played. I had A2KQ flop was K46, there was a raises and re-raises I called on the low draw. Turn K give me three of a kind and still the nut low draw. River was a 2 giving me the boat, but no low. My opponents had A3 for a low and KQ for a bigger boat and I went form 7K to 4K, blinds were 250 and 500. In my opinion my mistake here is I should have folded early, (pre-flop) At the time I was drawing to a low only and could have been quartered very easily. Even told myself to fold, and I did not listen. I went out 5th (4 paid) with Kings full of Queen’s to King’s full of Ace’s. That was quite a cooler.
It was a learning experience to watch a player nurse a short stack (at time extremely short) and claw his way back to take the win. Congrats, Budetcoach it was an impressive comeback, not only with 7 players left but from where you were when heads up began.
This week CHIMPS is over at Poker Stars for the first of two tournaments, this season, on that site, this week heads up. In a few weeks a regular tourney. I personally struggle with my heads up game. So, Blaz no I do not want to play you heads up.
If you need me I will be at the tables.
