Moving to Vegas and Poker in Different Regions
Well I have finally had it with these brutal Chicago winters. No more slush for me!
I have moved out to Vegas to take on the NLHE games here head-on. I tried this once before, attempting to make a living off the 15/30 limit games, but didn’t do so well. Hopefully I will do better this time around.
Poker in Chicago was okay - the games were composed mostly of regulars, though, who wouldn’t stack off very light (which is what you should be looking for when checking out game selection).
I have checked out poker in a lot of different regions, and people are always saying all this East coast vs. West coast garbage. The real gem of poker, though, is in the South. If you’ve ever played in New Orleans, Biloxi, or Tunica, you know what I am talking about - Vegas, Atlantic City, whatever, has nothing on the players in the South. A lot of the games are uncapped, meaning that you are able to win huge sums of money. Additionally, the players are just flat-out bad. If you analyze my winrate over the past couple of years by region, it is pretty much the same everywhere except for the South, where it is about 40% higher (this is all based on a sample size of several hundred hours).
If you ever get the chance, check out the casinos down South. They take care of you too - most offer free $25 buffets after 4 hours of play and discounted hotel rooms/airfare packages.

Good luck bro! I know exactly what you are talking about with the weather in Chicago. I hope you crush those rich tourists out on the strip.
Don’t miss the boats too much! lol Hate to hear you’re gone and it makes me jealous. I’ll shoot you an email when I’m coming out to Vegas. Maybe we can grab dinner or something. I will be there for sure for the wsop. keep in touch.
If your result is 40% better in the south, why did you move to Vegas? I wold move just about anywhere for 40% more.
I’m not much of a tourney player, I haven’t bothered to enter although I heard the value was through the roof. The 2/5 nlhe games are pretty good this week though, I’ve been playing in them the past few days.

You’re right about the South. The players in Florida fall into that category. I’ve been doing well in the limit cash games at the Hard Rock in Tampa.
When did you move out to Vegas?
