Doyle on Obama

I was just about to write a blog about how disappointed I was to read the negative rumors Doyle Brunson wrote about presidential candidate Barack Obama on his February 7th blog at Doyle’s Room. But when I checked back, I saw that he is now endorsing the Senator! Huhhh?

I have no idea how to contact Doyle, but I wish I could tell him this…

I am from Texas and have idolized you for a very long time. I am so glad you now support Obama, but it wasn’t cool to repeat false and negative rumors about such an incredible man on your blog. People listen to you, so be a little more careful, okay? Especially when a visit to Barack Obama’s website would debunk those rumors you posted for the world to read. In politics, there isn’t always fire where there is smoke; sometimes there is just a well-funded opposition conspiracy.

So to set the record straight, Obama is not a Muslim; he is a Christian. His church in South Chicago is predominately black, but it welcomes non-black visitors and members. His mother, who has passed away, did call herself an atheist, but many of us believe differently than our parents.

Obama is a poker player. Gambling legislation is a legislative issue, not an executive one, but if you are interested, here is an article detailing all the candidates’ stances on online gaming, which was written just before the Nevada caucuses. And Jim McManus recently wrote a great article for The New Yorker about Obama and many past presidents who were poker players that is certainly worth a read.

On a personal note…I am going back home to Amarillo for a couple of weeks. I met someone on pokerstars recently who told me about a good game there, but alas I’ve lost the info. I know I’ll be thinking about all the poker I’m missing out on. Cry

I’d seen that — strange stuff. Funny what people will say on blogs, sometimes. (Even the pros.)
