Congrats Johnny Neckar, John Phan

Aaargh sooo tilted right now I was grinding stupid $2/5 cash today while 50 feet away from me a FT was happening with a poker acquaintance that I have sweated and played with before.

Johnny Neckar finished 2nd to John Phan today in the $3k NLHE tourney - it was a marathon heads up match and I could hear the screaming from my table. Unfortunately, I was too stupid to check it out and missed out on seeing this kid.  After sweating his $5k mixed limit cash, I told him I’d sweat him if he went deep again but I missed it and just found out that he FTed after I came home and checked out pokernews.

Congrats to John Phan, I covered his event when he lost 2 years ago to Jon Friedberg in a heads up match for a bracelet, Phan got majorly robbed in that match, which was on ESPN. He definitely deserves a bracelet, but it’s too bad that he had to beat Johnny for this one. Phan was moving in dark a lot 2 years ago, and he did it again tonight, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he played phenomenally up to that point to get that win. Both players were all in multiple times during HU play and favorites to win, but they kept on sucking out on each other to make it an exciting and long match.

I know Johnny is probably pretty disappointed right now, but I see this kid doing great things in the future and eventually taking one down. He’s an online stud and his results have been pretty good so far this series. Phan gets $435k and Neckar got $277k, all for a $3k investment! I need to learn how to play donkaments…
