How I turned $80 into $16,567
So as I mentioned in a previous post, I was heading to Vegas for a week to play in the WSOP. Well things didn’t go according to plans and that was a very good thing. My buddy and I and our significant others who were with us for the weekend had dinner plans at Lavo in the Palazzo on Saturday night. Before dinner my buddy and I decided to try a $80 satellite at the Venetian for entry into a $340 Deep stack event that Monday. Top 2 got seats and I was one of them after being shortstack and hitting a miracle turn card with 4 left when my KK ran into A5 all in pre flop and the board came 553 bu the turn came a miracle K. I win my seat, chop the last longer and go and play Monday. We start with 12k in chips and 40 min levels. I am up to about 17k when the following hands happens during the 2nd level. I open UTG with AA to 650 (blinds 100/200). BB raises me to 2100 and I make it 7k to go. He goes all in and I call and he has KK. Flop comes K high and I hit a the miracle case ace on the river. Same dealer who dealt me my KK inthe satty…this felt like destiny to me. From their I play pretty much solid poker and keep getting big hand after big hand. At dinner break I was about 35-40K after taking some hits though. However, by the end of the night I have 635,000 in chips and in 2nd place with 39 left. Going into day 2 I was feeling really at ease and confident. On the 2nd hand of the day I win over a 300K pot (AK vs 1010 and my 10’s hold up) and am almost at a million in chips. I now enter the final table 3rd in chips and guaranteed over 4K. We are now 4 handed and I am last in chips. I ask the tournament director for chop amounts based on chip equity. He runs the numbers and 4th was worth 26k while first was 50k. If we played it out 1st gets 64k. The chip leader was a young kid who had about 50% of the chips in play. He states that he will not accept anything below $60k. After the TD and the rest of tell him what a deal he is getting, he still refuses and we play 4 handed for about 1.5 hours. At that point I am third in chips and the young kid is severe shortstack after doubling up almost all the players. I am then dealt KK in the BB and raise the chip leader who opened on the button. I have about $1.8 million and he makes it 275k to go. I make it about 850k and he pushes all in and I snap call. He has AJ and a Ace hits the flop and I am going home in 4th place. The kid finished 3rd for just over 18k. He cost me at minimum $10k and himself $32k. What a greedy donkey. The 2 guys left chopped up 1st and 2nd since they were close in chips for $48k apiece. I can’t complain too much since I ran like God pretty much (39 pocket pairs in 2 days) and outlasted 815 players. My biggest score by far ever amd just in time as I need to pay some debt down and help with a down payment on a house.
Time for the WSOP
Hello PokerSifters out there! I have been practically non-existent the past year due to an intense masters program I was in. Last week I graduated with my MS in Information Management and am excited to be able to get back to a normal life with my nights free to watch TV and play some poker. Over the past year, pretty much the only poker I played was the WSOP Circuit event at Rincon this past March. I played 2 tournaments, one NLH and one O8. I sorta bubbled the NLH tournament busting 39th when 27 got paid. I’ve played a few sessions of limit cash games with slight losing results.
Of course
Thanks Stars, 2nd hand of final table, top 4 paid, I eventually bust 6

WSOP Horse
As most of you know already, ESPN this past Tuesday aired 2 hours of the 50k Horse event. I was eagerly awaiting this show because I love it when they show something other than No Limit Holdem and I wanted to see this star-studded packed final table. Also, horse is an amazing game and my favorite form of poker to play. When this final table was happening I had heard about the raucous atmosphere going on but what I saw on ESPN blew me away and shocked me.
Utter Poker Devastation
Ok so the title may be a little dramatic but what I experienced tonight will haunt me for some time. It has been a long time since I posted. I have had little time for poker due to grad school which started in June. I’ve deposited a few times on Star’s for the sole purpose of trying to get a seat in the LAPT event at Uruguay. This event has been my focus for the past few weeks but with no luck playing in some $8.80 rebuys. This was the only LAPT event I tried for because it fits my school schedule the best. So yesterday, I played a Sunday million $8.80 6 max double shootout with one $215 seat guaranteed. I won that seat, unregistered from the Sunday mill (won a 2nd DS and played in massive Sunday mill tourney but busted in less than an hour when I ran QQ into KK) and registered for the Sunday $215 LAPTLa Punta de Este event. 1 seat guaranteed and for every 5k in the prize pool another seat guaranteed. Well we ended up getting 52 players which was enough for 2 seat plus 3rd and 4th getting some cash.
WSOP Plans Anyone?
So is anyone going to the play in any of the events of the WSOP this year? I more than likely won’t be playing due to the fact that I start an intensive grad school program June 2nd and won’t have much of a life for the next year. I’ve been the last two years and had a blast.
Stars Payout Schedule
So finally able to blog about something that has intrigued and annoyed me since last Sunday. I finally redeposited after a few months layoff on Stars and decided to play the $10+1 15k guaranteed tournament. They ended up getting 3364 players for a prize pool over $33K. I ended up playing for over 4.5 hours and busted out 20th for a whopping $74.01 for a $63.01 profit. Now the issue I have is that first place was slightly over $4.6K. Now this seems awful small for a 33k prize pool…just over 14% was set aside for first. I thought my payout for 20th place was small also.

It’s official, WSOP ME Final Table Delayed
What was speculated a few weeks ago is now official, ESPN and Harrah’s Caesar’s will delay the final table till November 9th, almost 4 months after it is played down to the final table. This is bad for poker in my opinion but probably a boon for ESPN and Caesars.
They will play down from 9 to 2 on the 9th and then the HU finale will be played in the evening of the 10th and it will air on the 11th but they are only doing a normal 2 hour show. You would think they can do more than 2 hours…hopefully that will change. Not sure if they will do the PPV like they have done the last 2 years.
3 sets flopped
So I can’t remember ever seeing this before…wonder if you all have. Found this hand on-line
