Hello Cake!
So I finally downloaded and installed Cake and got their rakeback and am ready to pluck away at their 500$ bonus. Of course, it all started with a -45BB losing session. Oh well, unfortunately I had to take it out on my husband a bit, which I didn’t intend. Lots of profuse apologizing later. Anyway, I can’t complain, because I’ve had a phenomenal March in terms of poker, so I don’t get why I get so frustrated with one stupid night.
Chatting is a lot of fun sometimes
Usually, when I’m online, I’m all business. I play; rarely chat. I used to be the idiot that said “nh”, when somebody hit quads or better, but now I don’t do that anymore. I don’t type out “ty” either anymore, when somebody sarcastically says “nh” to me.
I just poured my heart out on 2+2 recently

Basically how I got to play poker…
In the groove…
I’ve been settling in nicely playing poker. My bankroll keeps growing slowly, but surely online. I play about 200-300 hands every day, which isn’t much, but, hey with a toddler and work, it’s all I can mange right now. I feel I’m getting the right reads of people and suddenly can shake off the bad beats easily. I mean, I scream at the monitor, but the next hand I’m in the groove again. I just gotta be careful to not get too complacent. So not much going on regarding “teh poker”. I still gotta make it to Commerce again, but life is too busy right now…
Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
How do you react to bad books?
My mom does not know much about poker. I taught her the rules one evening, when we were bored, but she played so weak tight, it wasn’t fun to play with her. She would only bet if she had it and always was afraid to bluff. She is a tad interested in poker, though, because she is a psychologist. She just hates the gambling/money aspect of the game. I still don’t know if she thinks that poker is a game of skill. I know after explaining to her 1000 times that blackjack is beatable through card counting, she still doesn’t believe me. She just knows the stories of patients that have gambling problems and lose their shirt playing blackjack. She is not a very math inclined person, so you could show her an equation and she still wouldn’t believe me card counting gives you an edge at blackjack. Now poker it is even harder to prove you have an edge, yet because of the psychology aspect, she is willing to halfway believe it might be beatable (go figure!).
Small post
I haven’t played that much poker in the last few days, except to try to clear the 75$ bonus on Full Tilt. It ran out today and I failed miserably, having only cleared about 23$ (22.50$ actual payout). Fortunately, it came with about 122$ of winnings, so I’m not to sad. I’m thinking of moving some of my BR to Cake to Bonus Whore the 500$ sign-up bonus. But then they only have like 2-5 tables of the limits (.25/.5-2/4 LHE) I play going, so I’m not so sure. Plus the payout is s-l-o-w like on FTP. So yeah, those have been the poker related things on my mind. Plus I have a Heads-Up match scheduled this week, which is always a nice spewfest.
You create your own luck
Today are my last few days in Northern California. We leave on Saturday, job starts on Monday and the big moving company is coming by the weekend after that, so it’s a week living in hotel and with friends. Today was also the last day of my daughter at daycare. I was talking about the move with her caretaker and I told her, we didn’t have a house yet, but it was going to be fine, just shrugged it off. She said, it was amazing that I was so relaxed, most of the people she knows are not like that.
Meeting Ray Zee and Tommy Angelo
Sorry, I haven’t been posting. But when you are turning in a PhD thesis and moving to another city, there’s a lot happening in your life, that is not poker related. I have a backlog of ideas that I still want to publish in this blog, so I hope you don’t despair.
One thing I do want to write about is the meeting with some 2+2ers I had about 2 weeks ago (I know, I know, 2 weeks is a long time). Perhaps you have heard of Ray Zee (an article about him) and Tommy Angelo (his website), perhaps not. Stox (his website) was about to show up, but he went to the wrong pizza place, LOL.
Checking to induce a bluff
I have finally played some hands again, about 2k in 2008, which is probably laughable to some of you guys but with all the stuff that is happening in my life (I’m writing this post as my flight is delayed in Denver airport), getting SOME poker in my system is soooo good.
Looking back on 2007…
I’m back in the Bay Area, but only for a few days. Monday I leave again to go to a meeting in Texas. Life is exciting right now, but not regarding poker. I hardly have any time for it at the moment. Nonetheless, it is the beginning of the New Year and I wanted to reflect a bit on my poker year in 2007 as I had some revelations, especially in August. Don’t expect me to make any poker related goals for 2008, I’ll likely just break them. I just hope to keep on playing and having fun. Right now, I feel that’s enough.
