Anthology of Wisdom - if its on the internet it must be true…

http://www.pr0crast.com/2+2.NL.Anthology.v1.htm

Found this link while cruizing some chat rooms, it is a compliation of all of 2 + 2’s best NLH Cash game advice. Pretty good stuff. I’m going through it tonight so I’ll post any OUTSTANDING material tomorrow. Enjoy!

The Donkey Test:

I have been playing a lot more cash games lately and been have success.  In the past I usually donated my money when playing cash games.  There was a thread on cardclubs.net about Donkeytest so I took the quiz.  I scored 109.  When I looked at the questions for a second time I realized 1 or 2 errors for sure.  So I feel pretty good about the score.

So I scored well, but did not always do what I thought was correct.  How dumb is that?  So I started to follow my own advice and have had success.

Ladies Only Events Cancelled?

I was reading an article on pokernews about how the California gaming commission is giving ladies’ only events some heat for being discriminatory.

It seems like they are issuing a warning that they need to start accepting both men and women.  I thought this was the way ladies only events always were.  Phil Gordon, Rafe Furst and co. gained a lot of notoriety for playing in the ladies-only event in drag at the Bay 101 a few years ago (it’s a pretty funny story that’s detailed in their book “Tales from the Tiltboys) and I think I’ve heard of Jose Canseco doing the same in a couple of events.  I don’t think they ever explicitly ban men from playing these things, it’s just kind of implied that we’re not supposed to.

You create your own luck

Today are my last few days in Northern California. We leave on Saturday, job starts on Monday and the big moving company is coming by the weekend after that, so it’s a week living in hotel and with friends. Today was also the last day of my daughter at daycare. I was talking about the move with her caretaker and I told her, we didn’t have a house yet, but it was going to be fine, just shrugged it off. She said, it was amazing that I was so relaxed, most of the people she knows are not like that.

Rodeo Poker

I was watching a recent episode of HSP where Doyle Brunson wondered aloud, “What has poker come to?”

Stumbled across this and thought it was pretty ridiculous.*  The poker puns made me cringe a bit.

Don’t watch past 2:20 if you are easily grossed out.

Sweating Right Now

FIRST, A question

Would you call a 3x raise and then a mini reraise with 10 10 in this position in the tournament. I am roughly 40th out of 90 players left….

Props to Shamus

Came across this best of 2007 list on Snoopys Blog and our own PokerSifter, Short Stack Shamus gets an honorable mention on category 15. I can see why Dr. Pauly got the award (Big fan of his writings)  but this crown may only last 1 year as Hard Boiled Poker may overtake him next year.

Congrats Shamus

Q. UB or Not UB? A. Not UB.

Yesterday I posted something over on Hard-Boiled Poker regarding recent troubles at Ultimate Bet. I used to have accounts on both Absolute Poker & UB, but following the “superuser” cheating scandal at AP, I hastily pulled my moneys off both sites back in October.

In the post, I mentioned a few Two Plus Two threads I’d been following regarding various complaints with UB. (I didn’t even really get into those recent rumors about another superuser-type scandal perhaps brewing on Ultimate Bet — if yr interested in that, here’s where that thread begins.) I talked about a few issues, including the “wait list freeze” problem the software has, as well as the rampant abuse of unlimited all-in protections (something that folks have complained about for years on UB).

MY SECOND CHIMPS Tourney

So I just finished playing the NLH w/rebuys event on the CHIMPS poker series. Out of 25 runners and 73 re-buys and add-ons I finished 2nd losing to Zerbet. I didn’t rebuy and did the add-on so I was only in for $3. I won $22.54 for a profit of $19.54. I played well, trapped successfully and of course got lucky.

Nice lucky hand right here in some blind vs. blind action. I knew guy was strong preflop and on the flop but no way I’m folding the straight flush draw with 2 overs (even though that didn’t matter). He wasn’t too happy after this hand. Would anyone else have folded this draw?

Poker Sift Group on the PPSN
